Underwater Hydrodemolition Service
Hydroblast offer a wide range of tailored Hydrodemolition services, including Underwater Hydrodemolition. Using a variety of expert equipment, we are able to remove unwanted concrete beneath the surface of the water. This enables the renovation and widening of a range of offshore structures including:
- Jetties and dolphin jetties
- Mooring dolphins and terminals
- Piers, quaysides and wharves
- Harbours, marinas and docks
- Berths and breakwaters
Depending on the nature of the job, Hydroblast will either supply specialist diving guns (for both the UK and overseas) or employ a diving company, working collaboratively towards quick and safe hydrodemolition underwater.
Process of Underwater Demolition
Hydroblast can employ the service of a qualified diving company, who would use our specialist underwater demolition equipment to carry out the safe, accurate removal of concrete without affecting the inner steel structure. Collaborating with the divers, Hydroblast would supply the necessary power pack, frame and guns. Our experienced team would also be on hand to advise the diving team, working together to effectively setup and operate the equipment.
With our guidance, the divers would position the frame and, if necessary, fix the legs for added security. They would also carry out any routine inspections and supply camera equipment. If the frame can’t be used, Hydroblast would supply the divers with specialist guns to effectively carry out the task.
Underwater Hydrodemolition Equipment from Hydroblast
A specialist frame and gun are important elements for achieving safe and efficient underwater hydrodemolition. Using either the double or triple version of the Aqua Spine as the frame, Hydroblast is able to securely connect operations to our robot on platforms, boats or quaysides. This durable and versatile system is operable both on land and underwater, making it perfect for this application.
Hydroblast also hire and sell Zero Thrust Diving Guns, designed specifically for use underwater. Featuring a stainless steel construction and a lightweight, manoeuvrable design, these guns allow for fast and powerful high pressure underwater demolition.
The “Zero Thrust” element of the guns refers to their ability to send an equal amount of force from both ends of the gun, reducing the strain on the diver. This will make it much easier for them to work continuously.
